Discover how Evolo helped Adam and Sallie Ann lower their energy bills and reduce their carbon footprint
Evolo Heat Pump Case Study
We spoke to Adam and Sallie Ann Reid, who have lived in a large off-grid home for over eight years and were looking for an alternative energy solution to meet their heating and hot water needs in a greener way.
Adam and Sallie Ann Reid needed to heat up a huge house, with large open plan rooms and big windows, as well as hot water being supplied to the home.
After struggling for some time to come up with an effective solution, which was also a more sustainable option, Adam and Sallie found Evolo. Working together, Evolo recommended a hybrid package to suit the couple’s needs.
After surveying the property, Evolo installed a low-temperature air source heat pump to generate the energy required for all the central heating to this large home and an oil boiler to serve the hot water for the home and the swimming pool.
As the Evolo Heating Engineering Project Lead, Murray Shanley, explains: “Whilst the property is in fact 28 years old, the build quality is close to new build standard. By supplying the Reids with a hybrid solution, we were able to give a higher temperature to the cylinder, which is 25 metres away, as well as giving the couple a perfect temperature of 80 degrees for the swimming pool heater.”
Using this hybrid solution, the Reids are now assured of having constant heat and hot water for their home, as well as being safe in the knowledge that they are optimising their running costs in the future.
The couple were thrilled with the results, as Sallie Ann explains: “We are excited to be on the journey to greener living and reducing our carbon footprint as well as easing our running costs - all in one go.”
They are now looking at the next step on their environmentally friendly path by exploring other low-carbon options to reduce emissions further, and with Evolo’s help are now on track to their very own net zero home!
